Garmin Edge data field coming

Your numbers — beside the map, not instead of it.

Striscia is a compact data strip that sits next to Garmin’s own map and navigation. A data field can’t draw its own map — so Striscia doesn’t pretend to. It keeps Garmin’s map and adds a slim strip of the numbers that matter: speed, power, heart rate and your climb.

Coming to the Garmin Connect IQ store (Edge 1050).

What you see

A slim strip of live numbers — without giving up Garmin’s map and navigation.

A strip beside the map

Your key live numbers — speed, power, HR, distance — in a compact strip, so the map stays the map.

Why a strip, not a map

A Connect IQ data field can’t render its own map. Rather than fake one, Striscia is deliberately a strip alongside Garmin’s map — you keep the navigation you trust and gain a clean readout of your numbers.

Honest by design: it complements Garmin’s map, it doesn’t replace it.

Climb-aware

On a climb the strip surfaces your gradient and climb context, then settles back on the flat.

Self-computed gradient

Garmin doesn’t expose true gradient to a data field, so Striscia computes it from your motion — shown as a reading, with the honest fallback if a source is missing.

A missing source drops its cell; the strip reflows.

Works without a power meter

No power meter? You still get speed, climb, HR and distance — the power cell simply steps aside.

Honest fallback

Striscia never shows a fake or frozen number. Without power it drops the watt cell rather than guessing, and the rest of the strip reflows.

Eerlijk degraderen: missing source → element away, never a fake value.

On your Edge

The strip beside Garmin’s map — normal, climbing, and without a power meter.

Simulator renders with seeded values. Self-computed gradient and live wind verify on the bike.

Honest by design

Striscia complements Garmin’s map, it doesn’t replace it — a data field can’t draw a map, and Striscia is honest about that. Estimates are labelled, and a missing source drops its cell rather than guessing.
